Forskolin is a compound made from the root of Indian coleus plant in the mint family. This plant is known to grow in Nepal, India, and Thailand. The compound has been used as a traditional herbal medicine to treat different diseases and conditions. It is believed to be the most beneficial compound which is derived from the plant.
Bodybuilding, on the other hand, involves doing constant exercises to keep your body healthy and develop muscles. In addition, building your body involves staying healthy free from various conditions that affect body performance. Generally, forskolin and bodybuilding go hand in hand though only little substantial research has been done to support its use and effectiveness.
Forskolin and bodybuilding
Forskolin helps with weight loss by supporting fat burning. A research was conducted with a sample of both overweight and obese men. They were given a dosage of 250mg of a 10% forskolin twice per day for a duration of two weeks. The results showed that the sample lost more than 7.8 times body fat. In addition, they added 35% of bone mass and increased testosterone levels by around 34% more.
Testosterone can stimulate a release of fat from fat cells as well as promote maintenance of muscle mass. Though not much evidence exists to support its use in weight loss and muscle building, the substance definitely plays a role worth noting. The compound lowers the risk of osteoporosis by increasing bone mineral density.
Forskolin boosts levels of a molecule called cyclic AMP (cAMP). The molecule activates various other enzymes within cells and tissues thus involved in several cellular functions. In this effect, some research supports its history as a remedy for asthma. It works just like conventional asthma drugs and by boosting cAMP levels; it helps relax muscles found in bronchial tubes thus make breathing much easier. Similarly, it broadens air channels into the lungs which also aid in relieving asthma.
Traditionally, the compound is said to have been significant in treating various problems in a human body. These include digestive disorders such as stomachache, nausea as well as intestinal and gastric spasm. In addition, it could treat skin problems, for instance, burns, insect bites, wounds, and allergies.
Because not much extensive research has been done to support most of the uses and importance of this product of Indian coleus, there is little support in its effectiveness in the role of bodybuilding. From aiding in weight loss to increase in testosterone muscle building, it satisfies its use in keeping the body fit.
